La Liga players not happy about North American match

first_imgThe Spanish Footballers Association disagrees with taking one official match to the United States and believes La Liga doesn’t think about the playersAfter news broke out about the plans for at least one La Liga official match to be played in the United States, opinions were divided. To some, this was a logical way of promoting the Spanish brand on the global stage.Meanwhile, to others, it was a rude way of slapping regular season fans on the face.Sergio Ramos, Real MadridZidane reveals Sergio Ramos injury concern for Real Madrid Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Zinedine Zidane has put Sergio Ramos’ availability for Real Madrid’s trip to Sevilla next weekend in doubt after withdrawing him against Levante. But on Thursday night, the Spanish Football Association (AFE in Spanish) released an official statement as was reported by The Sports Man.“As per usual, LaLiga has dispensed with the opinions of the players and has undertaken actions that only benefit them, regardless of the health or risks to the players,” the press release said.“And even less the feelings of the following masses of the clubs who are being “forced” to compete in North America once a season.”“Faced with such manifest arbitrariness, David Aganzo, president of the Spanish Footballers Association (AFE), has made his complaint public and points out that footballers are not currency, that can be used in business to only benefit third parties. Spalleti excited with Inters display

first_imgLuciano Spalletti praised Inter Milan’s stars unsung heroes after whitewashing Genoa 5-0 at the San Siro. The Nerazzurri completed their seventh successive win with a 5-0 win against Genoa at San Siro thanks to a Gagliardini brace, Matteo Politano, Joao Mario, and Radja Nainggolan.“We must always start from scratch in every game and work hard because if we don’t keep that solid mentality, we won’t do well,” the Coach told Football Italia.“The team had the right attitude, worked as a team, pressed high and the forwards helped out in defence too. That kind of approach is more often than not rewarded with the result.Romelu Lukaku, Serie A, Inter MilanCapello calls Lukaku “a modern striker” Manuel R. Medina – September 14, 2019 The former Italian manager believes Romelu Lukaku is perfectly suited for Antonio Conte’s Internazionale Milan in the Serie A.“The most satisfying thing was to see the 70,000 in the stadium today applauding and pleased with our performance. They put their faith in us last season and continued to come, showing their love for the club colours and waiting for us to deliver.“Football doesn’t change all that much. If you keep possession and are comfortable on the ball, that is the fundamental thing.“It takes pressure off our defence, causes problems for the opposition tactics and gives us the chance to find the quality in the individuals.“If you score at the end of a period of good possession, that’s just even better.”last_img read more

No way, no how. And that was for the Wi-Fi-only model.Check this: For a limited time, and while supplies last, B&H has the Apple iPad Pro 12.9 with Wi-Fi and LTE (64GB) in gold for $599 shipped, which I believe ranks as one of the best deals ever on this particular configuration.See it at B&HThis is the 2017 model, so it still has a home button and still relies on Touch ID rather than Face ID. Surprisingly, it’s new, not refurbished, which is usually the only way you’d see a price this low.And speaking of that, Apple proper sells the refurbished iPad Pro 12.9 for $589 — but it’s the Wi-Fi-only version. A mere $10 more buys you retail packaging and the LTE option. (That said, Apple’s refurbs are pretty much good as new, right down to the new battery and one-year warranty.)See it at AppleAt this size, and paired with a Bluetooth keyboard, the iPad Pro could potentially take the place of a laptop. And the LTE option is something few laptops have, a boon if you often find yourself “in the field.”I’m not sure how long these will last at this price, so if you think you might be interested, act fast. As we learned yesterday, the best deals often disappear in a hurry.Read more: Apple iPad Pro 12.9 review iPad Pro 2017 review: ProMotion for me! Satellite rights of Wazir Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 could be lower

first_imgGAZAB , DILWALE TV RIGHTS SOLD FOR 60 CRORES HIGHEST EVER #GeruaFastest5mViews @taran_adarsh— SRK HATERS KO MAARO (@SRKswarrior1) November 20, 2015The worldwide box office collection of “Dilwale” was Rs 306.10 crore, while that of “Bajirao Mastani” stood at Rs 347.57 crore till the end of the fourth weekend. TwitterHindi film production houses and distributors selling satellite and television rights of their movies for whopping amounts, as has in the past, may not continue in the current year. This could affect the revenue of entities like Eros International Media, 30% of whose earnings comes from selling film rights to movie channels.”Bajirao Mastani”, globally distributed by listed entity Eros, reportedly sold the satellite rights of the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-starrer for Rs 35 crore, according to Business Standard. Earlier, trade analyst Taran Adarsh had said MSM had acquired the TV rights of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Dilwale” from Red Chillies Entertainment for Rs 60 crore, besides agreeing to jointly produce content for films and television.Another blockbuster, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” starring Salman Khan earned about Rs 50 crore under a five-year deal between the actor and Star India Network, while the music rights (sold to T-series) have fetched around Rs 10 crore. But these could be aberrations and may not recur. In 2015, there was a 40% decline in rates for satellite and television rights of Hindi films, according to Mint. The report said new Hindi film channel launches pushed prices up. Aggressive buying made business sense for channels as these movies drove television rating points (TRPs), translating into increased advertisement revenues. But not many TV channels are expected to be launched in 2016, and therefore, satellite rights of even box office hits may see softening of rates, giving leeway to channels to drive a hard bargain. Also, box office hits are not necessarily successful when aired on TV channels, the Mint report added. “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” was a box office success, earning Rs 188 crore, but generated TRP of a meagre 0.2. The Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone-starrer was acquired for Rs 25 crore.Paradoxically, the lesser known film”Ramaiya Vastavaiya” garnered just above Rs 36 crore at the box office but registered a TRP of 2.5 when shown on television, the report said. The trend could hit a major revenue stream for distributors and producers, like Eros and other production houses. The company derives about 30% of its revenues from these rights, with theatrical rights contributing 38% and the rest coming from overseas sales.Eros recovers the entire production cost of movies before they are released in theatres by selling music rights, satellite rights and 39% guaranteed cost recovery from its parent for international distribution, according to an update by ICICI Direct last August.Hindi movie channels largely comprise of Sony Max, Star Gold, Zee Cinema, Movies OK and &pictures. It would be interesting to see how the latest set of movies such as “Wazir” and “Kya Kool Hain Hum 3” end up when they sell their satellite rights. “Wazir” features Farhan Akhtar, Aditi Rao Hydari, Bejoy Nambiar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan, while “Kya Kool Hai Hum 3” has Tusshar Kapoor, “Bigg Boss 9” contestant Mandana Karimi, Aftab Shivdasani as lead characters.Meanwhile, shares of Eros International have been going downhill ever since “Bajirao Mastani” directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was released on 18 December, 2015. The price was Rs 260 on the day and closed at Rs 202 on 15 January, 2016. During trading, the stock almost touched its 52-week low of Rs 198.95.Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dilwale” was also released on 18 December.MSM and Red Chillies Ent ink strategic alliance. Virginia is among 18 states that have not expanded

first_imgVirginia is among 18 states that have not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. But this year, the state legislature is going into a special session to continue discussions about whether or not to include it in its budget. By the time the regular session adjourned Saturday, members of Virginia’s GOP-controlled House of Delegates and Senate could not reach agreement on whether or not to expand Medicaid.Republican Delegate Barry Knight from the Virginia Beach area calls it “the 800-pound gorilla in the room.” He’s one of more than a dozen Republicans who voted to include Medicaid expansion in the House budget — along with a work requirement — this year. It’s a big shift in the House position on the issue and comes after 15 seats flipped in the so-called “blue wave” of last November’s election, which also saw the election of Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam.”On the big-picture issues, I think it was a re-awakening and a call to look at things from a different perspective,” says Republican Delegate Chris Peace, from the Richmond area.At a recent rally outside the state Capitol in Richmond, Northam continued his campaign message. “Are you all ready to get this done?” he called to the crowd’s cheers. “Are you ready to expand coverage?”A December poll showed over 80 percent of likely Virginia voters support an expansion.”I think the House heard that message, loud and clear. I think the Senate still needs to listen a little bit,” Northam says. He’s referring to a strong movement against expansion, led by Senate Majority Leader Tommy Norment from the Tidewater area in southeastern Virginia. Norment has come out against the House Republicans who want to expand. He reminds them that despite a slim margin, Republicans are still in charge and could stop Medicaid expansion.”I do think that the House of Delegates is waiting for that moment of lucidity and epiphany to realize that their majority is 51 to 49,” Norment says. But President Trump has managed to mobilize Democratic voters, says Bob Holsworth, a former political science professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. He thinks expansion has a greater chance this year.It could pass in the Senate, he says, because of a potential wildcard. That wildcard is Republican Sen. Emmett Hanger, from mostly-rural central Virginia. Hanger has expressed support for some form of Medicaid expansion, and has a track record of voting independently, says Holsworth.”What Hanger has said that’s very interesting … is that if he decides to support some version of Medicaid expansion, he says, ‘There are a number of other Republicans who are going to go over with me.’ “However, Hanger isn’t happy about a tax on hospitals that has been incorporated into the House’s budget to help pay for the state’s share of expansion costs. The tax accounts for about three quarters of the over $400 million Medicaid-related gulf between House and Senate budgets. If legislators don’t come up with a budget that includes Medicaid expansion, Northam has a plan B. He says he’ll introduce an amendment to add it back into the budget. In the amendment process, the lieutenant governor, Justin Fairfax, gets a vote if the Senate ties. Fairfax says he’d be happy to vote to expand coverage to up to 400,000 low-income Virginians.”There are so many people that we can help and we have the means to do it if we expand Medicaid. We just have to have the political will to do it,” Fairfax says.Among those expansion would help in Virginia: low-income adults without children.”An adult who does not have children can have zero income — can be totally impoverished — and they cannot get Medicaid,” says Jill Hanken with the Virginia Poverty Law Center. And a family of three with a total income of about $10,000 doesn’t qualify for Medicaid, she says.”It’s hard to explain to them that they don’t have a choice, they’re not eligible for Medicaid,” she says, and they’re not eligible for subsidies for insurance on the exchange, so health insurance is out of reach. “And the reason is because Virginia hasn’t expanded Medicaid,” she says. The special session begins April 11. The state needs a budget agreement by June 30 to prevent a government shutdown. This story is part of a reporting partnership with NPR, local NPR stations and Kaiser Health News. Copyright 2018 WCVE. The FCCs Looming Repeal of Net Neutrality Is an Assault on Entrepreneurship

first_img Micha Kaufman The FCC’s Looming Repeal of Net Neutrality Is an Assault on Entrepreneurship Guest Writer Net Neutrality Starting an internet company is easy. An idea, some code, a whimsically spelled name, and you’re there, right? While that is a bit of an oversimplification, all of us owe a debt to the pioneers of the internet who created a global network of interconnected machines. It paved the way for information exchanges and innovations that have made overwhelming impacts on the way we go about our daily lives, making it possible for many well-known companies to find rapid success. On December 14th, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on a measure to repeal the landmark net neutrality rule it passed just two years ago. This has major implications for the millions of little-known companies that rely on the internet to run their business. Don’t think about Netflix and its struggles with “throttling” prior to the 2015 rule being enacted. Think about the impact of the FCC’s potential actions on the 28 million small businesses that call the U.S. home. The promise of the internet isn’t about the companies that have been created. It’s about fostering an environment where businesses that aren’t flush with cash today, but have an idea and an entrepreneurial drive to grow that idea into something bigger, can compete and thrive.Related: How Changes to Net Neutrality Laws Could Affect Small BusinessesWhat repealing net neutrality means for internet entrepreneurs. To understand the impact of this upcoming decision, we need to start with the actual proposed plan and what it’s replacing. That story begins in 2015 when President Obama took an earlier fight over net neutrality in a better direction for entrepreneurs. At his urging, the FCC approved a net neutrality rule to broadly regulate Comcast, AT&T and other internet service providers (ISP’s) as a utility or “common carrier.” That rule, which is what the FCC will vote to repeal, prevents ISPs from selling “fast lanes” to the highest bidders and expressly bans throttling, blocking and paid prioritization. The net neutrality rule guarantees speed of access is equal regardless if a prospective customer is visiting your ecommerce site or Amazon. The rule took how the internet has always worked and made it the law of the land, harkening back to the way Americans think about other utilities like water and sewer, landline phones, natural gas and electricity. You and the bigger business next door with more cash receive identical electric service.FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan includes a substantial rollback of the regulations that impacted ISP’s in 2015. Specifically, it would not hold ISPs to the same “common carrier” standard, allowing them to throttle access to certain content and media, and create multiple tiers of service. It would basically allow for the creation of slow and “fast lanes” on the internet for specific content.Pai calls this “light touch” regulation and claims it will result in more competition that benefits the consumer. However, given the spotty broadband access in the US now, it’s unlikely the free market will trigger price wars outside of urban areas. Consumers and businesses outside of major markets are likely to be exactly where they are today, without real alternatives when choosing their ISP.Related: Here Are the Rules the Government Just Proposed to End Net NeutralityThis is important to every entrepreneur.Simply put: access to fast, reliable broadband internet is synonymous with opportunity in today’s economy. The bootstrapping entrepreneur hustling to build his or her business has too many challenges to overcome already. Adding how to afford “pay-to-play” access for reasonable bandwidth to the list is unfair and maybe fatal for many businesses. It actively limits innovation by raising the barriers to access the most powerful business resource around. While ISPs might offer “reasonable access,” that access won’t hold a lot of promise for the average entrepreneur who already struggles to convert traffic to leads and eventually to sales. Imagine how much harder that’s going to be when pages take forever to load. According to HubSpot, nearly 80 percent of customers who wait longer than three seconds for a company’s webpage to load won’t shop there again. A satisfactory time is roughly two seconds per page and by three seconds, most prospective customers are gone. That kind of margin doesn’t leave a lot of room for growing businesses now, and it certainly won’t improve under throttling or “slow lane” internet access.Action you can take.A poll of Americans this summer found that 77 percent of those surveyed support the current net neutrality protections, including 73 percent of Republicans (Mr. Pai, a Republican and formerly an attorney for Verizon, cast the lone vote against the 2015 net neutrality rule. He was named FCC chairman by President Trump). Since April, more than half a million calls have been placed to Congress on this issue alone through Battle for the Net’s call to action. While there have been serious concerns about the legitimacy of the FCC’s comment period, the vote is slated to take place on December 14th but there are ways you can engage on the issue:Related: How Companies Are Marking the Battle for the Net ProtestIn-person event: December 14 Protest Outside FCC HQ in DCDigital petitions and campaigns:Battle for the Net’s “Break the internet” Protest on December 12ACLU’s Call Congress ToolHey FCC Selfie CampaignBattle for the Net’s Call Congress Campaign 5 min read Image credit: Scott Olson | Getty Images Net neutrality means, by law, your website and Amazon load at the same speed. July 16, 2019 Scientists may have finally hit upon some answers for that curious phenomenon that anyone who has used marijuana has observed – either in others or themselves. When using marijuana, some people can’t stop laughing. The smallest thing – a half-amusing television commercial, for example – can set them off into gales of wild laughter. They are happy.Others, who smoked the very same weed, are not. This second group becomes paranoid. You might see them constantly looking out the window, certain that bad news of some type is on its way. Worse, they may think what others are saying is somehow insulting or a threat to them. What’s going on? Scientists recently tried to find an answer.Related: New Findings Raise Doubts Whether Legal Weed Reduces Opioid DeathsHow the brain interacts with weed.A new study from researchers at the University of Western Ontario in Canada examined the brain activity of rats who had been injected with THC, the chemical component in marijuana that causes the high feeling. What they found is that how we experience marijuana may come down to the nucleus accumbens, the frontal region of the brain associated with reward behavior and the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. THC seems to impact this area of the brain the most. When THC attaches primarily to receptors in the front area of the nucleus accumbens, it triggers euphoria but also stimulates further reward-related activity patterns in the neurons. However, this region also is associated with “aversion processing,” in which potential threats are identified. If the THC attaches to receptors in the anterior of the nucleus accumbens, it can stimulate this area, leading to adverse symptoms of both the cognitive and emotional variety. It’s similar, the researchers said, to what is produced in people with schizophrenia.Related: Researchers Find ‘Recreational’ Cannabis Customers Buy Weed to Sleep Better and Treat PainWhy the same weed can affect people differently. If you’ve felt paranoid after using a certain type of weed and wondered if you could just “get over it” or thought maybe it was because of your mood, the new research indicated that this is probably not the case.“These findings are important because they suggest why some people have a very positive experience with marijuana when others have a very negative experience,” Christopher Norris, one of the researchers, said in a statement about the research. He went on to stay the research indicates that “because the reward and aversion are produced by anatomically distinct areas, the different effects between individuals is likely due to genetic variation leading to differential sensitivity of each area.”Genetic variation is obviously something people cannot control. It also means that different strains might impact users differently. The bottom line: whether you are happy or paranoid may simply come down to your DNA, not your personality type or mood that day.To stay up to date on the latest marijuana-related news make sure to like dispensaries.com on Facebook Add to Queue Image credit: Brian Caissie | Getty Images dispensaries.com Guest Writer Listen Nowlast_img read more
